What this shows
Changes relative to the baseline for four production scenarios. The shock is applied at layer 0 (vehicle assembly) and propagated up the supply chain to layer-1, layer-2 and layer-3 suppliers in every producing country.
Summary tiles
Total change: change in the selected metric, summed over all countries and layers 0–3. Direct: layer 0: change at vehicle assembly, where the scenario applies the shock. Indirect: layers 1–3: change among suppliers, their suppliers, and one step further back. Supply-chain multiplier: total change ÷ direct change. For example, 2.06× means each €1 (or job) of change at assembly brings 1.06 more in layers 1–3. Lost / Gained: … chain (scenario 1 only, where layer 0 nets to zero): total change in the ICE chain and in the BEV chain, layer 0 plus layers 1–3. Inside / outside EU: the total split between EU-27 producers and the UK, US, China, Türkiye, Morocco, Serbia and rest of world.
Reading the charts
Change by country: map coloured by the change in the selected metric, either in absolute terms (€ or jobs) or as a % of the country's baseline (colour capped at ±100%). Countries with a dark outline receive the direct shock. The US, China and rest of world are listed below the map. How the shock travels up the supply chain: layer 0 is vehicle assembly, where the shock is applied; layers 1–3 are the suppliers, their suppliers, and one step further back. Bars are split by powertrain. Winners and losers by country: change by producing country, split by supply-chain layer or powertrain. With Countries set to All, EU-27 and non-EU are shown separately. Click a bar to see that country's products. Top 15 most affected products: the products with the largest change, all supply-chain layers combined, coloured by powertrain, for the selected country or group. Country breakdown: change by country and layer, with EU-27 and non-EU subtotals. Total change also includes layer 0 (assembly). Baseline covers the powertrains in the scenario. Click a column header to sort, or a row to see that country's products. ◆ marks the net change wherever bars are stacked.
Using the page
Pick a scenario and metric in the left panel. Click a country in the map, chart or table to see its most affected products. Countries limits the whole page to EU-27 or non-EU producers; with All, the country chart and table show the two groups separately. Reset all returns to scenario 1, gross output, broken down by supply-chain layer, all countries.
